How To Get Where You Want By Having The Courage To Be More Visible

visible

Visibility is something I’m sure everyone’s hearing a lot right now. It’s a real buzzword and I feel like I’m using it all the time with my clients too. Whether I’m working with them as a Brand Stylist, a Business Coach, or even chatting to them in my free Facebook group, it’s one of the biggest tips I give them. Why? Being visible is an absolute game changer.

That’s why it’s not like most buzzwords that are seen everywhere then disappear. This one is absolutely key to getting you where you want to be.

There are two key reasons for this. Firstly, you are your brand. You live it 24/7 and you’re the x factor that makes you stand out. The second is that people buy from people. We all still crave human connections despite how digital our lives now are.

The How And The Why

So that’s the ‘why.’ But, the ‘how’ is completely different. I’ve been there and done it, and I know how scary it can be. I used to dread it. I hated having my picture taken. When I started Facebook Lives, I would put it off. I even gave myself a nervous blink. My confidence was low, and I almost convinced myself it wasn’t something I needed to do. I thought I could ‘get by’ without it.

Then I had a moment. I realised that I’m not doing this, to ‘get by.’ It wasn’t enough. Like any business owner I have goals, I know where I want to be, and I know I’m going to get there through hard work and consistency.

Switching Mindset

Honestly, the moment I switched into that mindset I just went for it. Now I’m visible every day. I show up, I bring the energy, and I have to say it started to pay off instantly. I would say it’s probably the single biggest game changer that I’ve seen in my business.

So if you’re looking to turn a hobby into something more serious or to build a following – please don’t be afraid to shout about what you’re up to. Other people’s opinions won’t pay the bills or for that lovely holiday you want to treat yourself to!

If I could give you five quick tips to beat the fear and be more visible, this is what I’d say:

#1 Back Yourself

You’re here for a reason. You have talent, knowledge, experience and ideas – share them. Remind yourself of this when you start to feel nervous.

 #2 Go For It

Don’t hide behind a feed; let your clients get to know the real person behind the brand. This enables you to make a more personal connection with your clients & potential clients.

 #3 Make A Point

Always add value, this is really important. Stop the scroll, grab their attention and make them want to stick around.  When you add value to someone’s life, they will want to come back for more.

 #4 Plan, Plan, Plan

Make yourself accountable, and know what you’re talking about before you go for it.

 #5 Do More

Get all your touch points, on-point with brand photography, networking and PR.

Just Be You

I know that if I, someone who was bullied at school, trolled online, and actually gave myself a nervous blink, can do it, everyone reading this can do it too. Yes you might feel the fear, but you have to do it anyway. Just go for it, show off that personality and embrace the nerves.

Let them fuel you to do it more, and the more often you’re visible, the more confident you’ll become. I know you will not regret it, you will notice a difference and you will start making it happen.

The most important thing of all though is however you choose to be visible, just be you.
