Holistic wellness approaches becoming healthy in a way that addresses your mind, your body, and your spirit. According to holistic wellness, you cannot be fully well if one of these three areas of your health is not adequately addressed and cared for.

Women, especially, are prone to neglecting all three elements of holistic wellness. Traditionally, women are left to take care of the household, while also pursuing their own careers. They may be more emphatic, bearing the brunt of others’ emotions.

To pursue the healing of your mind, body, and spirit, try these ten tips to help you achieve holistic wellness in your busy life.

Tip 1: Eat A Balanced, Whole Diet

Our modern lives are so inundated with over-scheduled days and easily-accessible fast food options that we often sacrifice eating well first, in an effort to save time and energy to put elsewhere.

Pre-planning meals and snacks can help you achieve a balanced, whole diet, full of fresh foods that don’t come out of a box or paper wrapper. Enjoying meatless Mondays, or incorporating more vegan options into your diet can also help naturally lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Tip 2: Stay Active – Doing Something You Actually Enjoy

We often force ourselves into participating in a physical activity as a form of exercise even if we don’t enjoy it. Taking up running just because it doesn’t require a lot of specialized equipment is absolutely fine, as long as you actually enjoy running.

To achieve holistic wellness, choose a form of exercise or physical activity you actually enjoy because you’ll be more likely to do it! Consider alternative forms of exercise, such as pilates, yoga, or bicycling around your neighborhood.

Tip 3: Dress For Your Health

Choose clothing that doesn’t negatively affect your health. Perhaps you’ve never considered it, but the clothing we put on our bodies can change the way we move and cause structural problems that must be addressed.

For example, high heels send shock waves up your spine and can even lead to a shortened Achilles tendon. Choosing more sensible shoes is smart because you get the support you need for your feet, and your spine won’t suffer for the sake of fashion.

Research other health consequences of fashion to discover clothing that makes you feel better and more comfortable.

Practice patience and forgiveness with others. Things happen as a result of others’ actions, but they aren’t always intentional. Radically accept yourself, and give others the benefit of the doubt, where appropriate, too.

Although our planet’s ecology is an oft-overlooked aspect of holistic wellness, spending some of your daily energy to lower your carbon footprint is actually quite important.

Switch to metal straws and package-free products. Recycle any materials that you can. Choose second-hand stores for your clothing and household goods so you aren’t dependent on dangerous “fast fashion.” Start a compost bin in your yard to nourish your garden; grow your own vegetables.

  1. All the tips are great. I want to comment on the tip 2. I’m a fan of fitness and really love the gym and working out. I can go to the gym even every day but I have noticed that after working out every day for about a month, I feel like I gain or accumulate tiredness in my body. I start to fall asleep much earlier, I work less productive at work, and even my libido gets down. Although I still enjoy going to the gym. So I decided to work out three times a week and that was the right decision. My body got back to normal. I feel the strength and energy in my body again. I enjoy working out even more. So, I want to say that it’s important not to overdo with your physical activity even though you love and enjoy it.

  4. Thanks for recommending that I try chiropractic care and acupuncture treatments for chronic pain. I’ve been suffering from lower back pain since last week and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stand needles on my body. I’ll probably feel better and more comfortable if I were to be treated by a chiropractor for this condition.

  5. Very nice tips! I completely agree with you on workouts, we must do what we actually enjoy. I love weight training and got no patience for cardiovascular exercises. Though my instructor keeps pestering me to jump on that treadmill but I always make some or other excuse and evaded it and now he has understood that I am not going to relent 🙂 Meditating is important because it keeps stress at bay which is important to enhance the immunity levels.
