Tell Us About Your Career So Far
I had no post school education so started off as an office junior. I worked my way up to investment banking and did a law degree while I was working full-time. Then, I had twins and after working crazy 80 hour weeks, was burnt out so I started my own business as a wedding planner.
I made every mistake possible in first year so hired a business coach and made it a success. Others started asking me “how she’d done it” so I organically started business coaching.
Within the first 6 months, I’d made 6 figures from the coaching. I then realised I wanted to work less and earn more so learned all I possibly could (investing in myself and the business) about passive income. I now make 90% of my income from passive or semi passive streams.
What 2 Things Do You Do To Build Your Confidence?
I keep a thank you board with all of the letters from clients who send me thank you notes when they have big wins.
When I get any kind of imposter syndrome, I spend 5 minutes reading these and know I’m doing what I should do. I’m also a big believer in getting out of my comfort zone. It used to be scary to do certain things like speaking on stages. I didn’t have the confidence to do it but then I realised I wasn’t growing if I felt comfortable all the time so now I push myself!
How Do You Balance Work And Life And Make Time For Yourself?
This can be hard because my husband works for me now so we have a rule that once the office door is closed, we try not to talk about work. It doesn’t always go to plan though!
I have a good balance when it comes to work/life as I travel a lot with my twins. We spend 2 months over summer travelling and not working. That’s why I wanted passive income in my life. I just couldn’t get the freedom I wanted trading time for money.
You’ve Recently Been Featured In Forbes. Can You Share Some Of Your Tips On Making Passive Income?
I teach my own system for making passive income. I call it the CASsH System.
C – Know your CLIENT – who do you want to help? Start with working that bit out first.
A – Grow an AUDIENCE of those potential clients – whether that’s an email list or on social media. Then nurture that audience – give them value, help them get what they need.
S – Work out the SYSTEMS and STRUCTURE you need for your passive income stream. Where will you host your e-book, course, membership? How will you deliver it?
S – Learn how to SELL. Launching your course the right way is really important and is a strategy in itself.
H – Keep your clients HAPPY so that you retain them.
What’s Your Definition Of Success And How Has This Changed Over The Years?
It changes all the time! At first, it was the financial success. I wanted to make a certain amount but then every time I hit that goal, I’d want more! I soon realised you could have a lot of money and no time to do anything with it.
In my first year, I made multi 6 figures but I barely saw my kids. That’s when my priorities changed. Now success to me is about freedom and balance. I don’t care anymore if I’m the most well known for what I do. Being ‘instagram famous’ doesn’t interest me nor being on all of the big stages.
I want to impact people so that they have more freedom, have enough money to do the things I want to do and spend a lot of time travelling with my family. I’m a big believer that success is different for everyone too.
How Do You Feel About Getting Older?
It only bothers me because I have a lot to do and less time to do it!
