With the current restrictions in place, how can we ensure we make Christmas special for the children? What can we do online or close to home to ensure they don’t miss out on the special time, as they have missed so much this year already.
Kensington Mums, an online platform to keep mums in the loop in London, have shared some of their seven ideas with us.
Pantomines
Oh we do love the Christmassy feel of a pantomime, oh no we don’t, oh yes we do! Sadly most shows were cancelled in the summer but The National Theatre will be staging a socially distanced ‘Dick Whittington’. They have transformed the Olivier Theatre to social distance the audience and have one way systems in place.
The London Palladium will also be putting on a special performance for three weeks from Dec 12th. Julian Clary will take you on a magical trip to Pantoland at The Palladium, joined by the first lady of Musical Theatre Elaine Paige.
The theatre has been reconfigured to ensure that audience bubbles are seated at least 1m apart. Facemasks are also mandatory.
Christmas At Kew
Kew Gardens returns for its 8th year with its enchanting winter trail. Leading you for the first time through the beautifully illuminated Rose Garden.
Gorgeous light installations will sparkle and glow around you, bringing festive cheer to you, your family and friends.
The experience is truly breath taking and very festive to ensure you still enjoy the season.
Blenheim Palace Light Trail
The beautiful illuminated Light Trail will be even more spectacular this year with new installations including Blue Neuron and Heart of Stars. Enjoy the breath-taking light displays with your family and walk through the Palace gardens like never before. It’s the perfect outdoor Christmas experience.
Create A Christmas Call With Santa
The Portable North Pole app is a gorgeous app where you can create and personalise realistic videos to play to your children. You can also have Santa call and record their reaction on your phone. It’s a really lovely app to give them the feel of Christmas….not forgetting a great way to ensure they behave to go on Santa’s nice list.
Host A Virtual Festive Quiz
Yes the joy of Zoom! Why not invite all your loved ones to take part in a Christmas quiz which you can create on a quiz app like Kahoot! Send everyone a Zoom link and host your party online. It will be such fun and you can put in some funny quiz questions to make everyone laugh.
Send A Letter Or Receive A Letter From Santa
The royal mail encourages you to send a letter to Santa by Dec 11th to ensure you get a reply from the big man himself.
Make sure you:
• Write Santa’s address carefully on the envelope
• Put a stamp on the envelope so it gets to him
