So now as we’ve had the children at home since March the 6 week summer holiday should be a doddle. That said, with a lot of things not open as normal, holidays cancelled and the pandemic hanging over us, what fun things can we do at home this summer?
Kensington Mums, an online platform to keep mums in the loop in London, have shared some of their ideas with us.

LEGO Master Builders – LEGO are providing a variety of videos to teach children how to build certain models. Take a look at their current building challenges, such as, ‘How to build a LEGO dog!’ or ‘How to build a LEGO cupcake!’
They are also challenging children to build any animal they want and then to share their ideas and challenge the Master Model Builders on what to build next! Use the hashtag #LLCBuildingChallenge.
There are also some great LEGO sets available, from building cities or models from your children’s favourite shows. You can read more about Lego activities here.

Take A Virtual Tour At The Natural History Museum

Tie Dye Fun
Tie dying has become a really popular thing to do during this period and it’s something that parents and children can get really creative with.
There are different styles that can be tried with different colours, making it a fun and experimental. You’ll be hunting out all your white pieces of clothing to do this. Now you can also make your own tie dye fun masks.
Make Jewellery
Making jewellery is something fun, fulfilling and relaxing to do at home. With summer jewellery being really fashionable right now, you can show off your personalised creations and bring out your children’s creative side.
Camp In Your Back Garden
If you can’t get away, why not make your own adventure at home. Camping in the back garden with the family will be different and exciting for the children.
You don’t need a great big tent. You can decorate it with fairy lights, cook outside – you could use a BBQ or even better, a firepit.
Make it cosy and it will be something the children will always remember.
Make Giant Bubbles
What child does not love bubbles! They are magical balls of rainbow colour and creating your own will be fun to do at home.
To create your bubble solution, first mix 2 cups of dish soap, 2 tablespoons of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of corn starch and 4 tablespoons of glycerin in a large bowl. Pour in a half gallon of distilled water and stir. This will create the solution. You can either buy a giant bubble wand or make one with two wooden dowels and some string.
Most of all, enjoy quality time at home with your little ones, creating memories as they are only little for a short while. Stay safe everyone.
